<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily achieve correction of slanted misalignment by correctly calculating the amount of the slanted misalignment without incurring an increase in cost due to especially providing a sensor etc. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image reading section 3 for reading an original and generating image data; an image forming section 6 with a plurality of photoreceptor drums 60 and an exposure device for forming an electrostatic latent image on each photoreceptor drum 60; a storing section 72 for storing sample image data including lines for each color which are extending in a main scanning direction; and an image processing section 8. The image forming section 6 forms an image for a sample image SP based on the sample image data. The image processing section 8 calculates the slanted misalignment amount for each line based on the image data read by the image reading section 3 with the printed and output sample image SP as the original.
