<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure an appropriate amount of fuel according to fluctuations in fuel pressure in a fuel supply system of an internal combustion engine, so as to suppress variations in an air-fuel ratio, thereby preventing degradation in combustion or emissions. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The fuel supply system includes: a feed pump 83 for pressurizing the fuel; a high-pressure fuel pump 85 for boosting a low-pressure fuel; a pressure chamber 103 for passing the low-pressure fuel through without being boosted by the high-pressure fuel pump 85; injectors 62, 63 for injecting the fuel into combustion chambers 22, 23; and an ECU 70 for controlling the halting of boosting the low-pressure fuel by the high-pressure fuel pump 85 and its operation depending on an engine operation state and for setting a fuel injection time for the injectors 62, 63 based on a fuel pressure mean value at a predetermined fuel pressure set time, wherein, when switching the high-pressure fuel pump 85 from its operating state to halted state, the ECU 70 sets the fuel injection time for the injectors 62, 63 based on the fuel pressure detected by a fuel pressure sensor 78, over a predetermined fuel change time after that switching.
