<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing technology capable of processing an image according to a difference in characteristics of an image following a difference in size even if the size of an original differs from that of an output. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU 53 compares an original size with an output size. When the former is larger than the latter, the CPU outputs image data corresponding to the output size to an image region separation processing section in the image data outputted from a processing block A76 for storing the data in a memory 54. The CPU 53 performs various kinds of setting so that a processing block B77 performs image processing corresponding to an image quality mode determined according to the determined result of the image region separation processing section, and outputs the image data corresponding to the output size to a filter processing section.
