<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of determining whether an interchangeable lens has a diaphragm ring or not for setting an optimum setting menu, in a single-lens reflex digital camera. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus has a determination means for determining whether a first diaphragm value setting means is mounted to the interchangeable lens; a third diaphragm value setting means, capable of setting either of a diaphragm value of the interchangeable lens or a set value except the diaphragm value; and an instruction means for sending an instruction to a diaphragm control means so that a diaphragm unit of the interchangeable lens is driven, based on the diaphragm value set by the third diaphragm value setting means. When it is determined that there is no first diaphragm value setting means mounted in the interchangeable lens, the third diaphragm value setting means is conditioned to set the diaphragm value; and when it is determined that a first diaphragm value setting means is mounted in the interchangeable lens, the third diaphragm value setting means is conditioned to set a value other than the diaphragm value.
