<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image file recording and editing device, by which image data can be easily handled and increase in file size can be suppressed without requiring troublesome management, with respect to management of image processing history, and to provide an image file recording and editing method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image file recording and editing device can store several images as a single image file and has: a main image region 20a which stores one image; an auxiliary image region 20b which stores at least one image; and a history information region 20c. The device further includes: an image processing means which targets an image stored in the main image region or in the auxiliary image region to process targeted images and generate a resulting image; and an information recording means which records information 21 identifying the targeted image and an image processing code 24 indicating the procedures of image processing as history information in the history information region.
