<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarization control element enhancing polarization control efficiency, capable of adjusting polarization characteristics and an operational wavelength band and strong in external damage. <P>SOLUTION: In the polarization control element having at least a plurality of metal structural bodies each having a size shorter than a wavelength of incident light and a metal film having a plurality of aperture parts each having a size shorter than the wavelength of incident light on a supporting body or in the inner part of the supporting body, units each having the aperture part of the metal film and two or more metal structural bodies are two-dimensionally disposed, and the two or more metal structural bodies included in the unit have the same shapes and the same sizes and are disposed to be closer than the size of the metal structural body. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
