PURPOSE: A system and a method for providing an idle screen, an idle screen server and a mobile communication terminal therefor are provided to download contents in a terminal through a mobile communication network when a user terminal is not located in a broadcasting receiving region, thereby minimizing data communication costs. CONSTITUTION: A system for providing contents to an idle screen including an idle screen server(200) and a mobile communication terminal(100). The idle screen server collects and stores at least one contents. The idle screen server designates a contents URL(Uniform Resource Locator). The idle screen server schedules a transmission time of contents. The idle screen server transmits contents to the mobile communication terminal by data broadcasting through a data broadcasting network at the transmission time of contents. When the mobile communication terminal is in a data broadcasting receiving region, the mobile communication terminal receives contents through a data broadcasting network.
