PURPOSE: An image displaying apparatus and an image displaying method are provided to eliminate the deterioration of an image by preventing a horizontal stripe pattern when compensating threshold-voltage variation of a driving transistor at plurality of lines at the same time. CONSTITUTION: In an image displaying apparatus, pixel circuits(17R,17G,17B)include a light emitting device, a signal-level holding capacitor, a driving transistor and a signal writing transistor which is turned on by a write signal outputted from a scan-line driving circuit. A no-light emission period and a light emission period are repeated by a signal line driving circuit and the scan-line driving circuit. In the no-light emission period, after a voltage between the two terminals of the signal-level holding capacitor is set by the threshold voltage of the driving transistor, the writing transistor is turned on, and then a gradation voltage representing the luminance of a light emitting device is compensated by a voltage determined by a signal-level holding capacitor. A corrected gradation voltage is set at the driving transistor. In the light emission period, the light emitting device is driven by the driving transistor and is emitted by the corrected gradation voltage.
