PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that in a sub-tank that has a film-like member at a negative pressure generation section and detects displacement of the film-like member in accordance with displacement of a negative pressure detection lever, ink may overflows when the film-like member is pressurized during replacement or accurate detection of the negative pressure is not performed when the film-like member is displaced by change in environment. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus comprises a recording head 34, a main cartridge 10, the sub-tank 35 having the negative pressure generation section that is constituted by a flexible film-like member 202 forming one face and an elastic member 203 for urging the flexible film-like member 202 toward the outside and a negative pressure detection lever 206 for detecting a negative pressure in the tank in accordance with the displacement of the flexible film-like member 202, and a protection member 301 that is disposed on side faces of the film-like member 202 and the negative pressure detection lever 206 of the sub-tank 35 so as to protect those members and to limit a negative pressure detection range of the negative pressure detection lever 206.
