PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a serial printer capable of suppressing the occurrence of any malfunction accompanying an increased throughput, while improving the throughput. SOLUTION: An inkjet printer performs printing by repeating the movement of a recording head in a main scanning direction for ejecting liquid onto recording paper and transport of the recording paper in a sub-scanning direction. The movement motion of the recording head and the transport motion of the recording paper are superimposed for the predetermined superimposing periods of time. The serial printer changes the superimposing time (step S13) when the transport of the leading position of the recording paper to a predetermined position is detected.
