<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device for sufficiently reducing speckle noise by maximizing the temporal displacement amount of incidence angle of modulated light coming into one any point on a screen. <P>SOLUTION: This projection type display device includes a laser light source 1, a spatial optical modulation element 3 for modulating illumination light emitted from the laser light source 1, an illumination optical system 2 for guiding the illumination light emitted from the laser light source 1 to the spatial optical modulation element 3 to illuminate the spatial optical modulation element 3, a projection lens 10 where an incidence pupil image is set larger than the emitted pupil diameter of the illumination optical system 2 and that projects the modulated light having passed through the spatial optical modulation element 3, and a pupil aligning means 6 for rotating the emitted pupil image of the illumination optical system 2 in the incidence pupil of the projection lens 10. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
