PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to call a person without knowing the telephone number of the person. SOLUTION: Information on the user who uses a first telephone set 11 and presence information including a telephone number assigned to the first telephone set 11 are transmitted from the first telephone set 11 to a presence management server 2. Then the presence information is registered in a first telephone directory database that the presence management server 2 has. Then the presence information registered in the first telephone directory database is reported to a second telephone set 5.
