PURPOSE: A Japanese language input apparatus and a method thereof are provided to simplify a character input type for effectively the Japanese language in an electronic device using number key buttons. CONSTITUTION: A Japanese language input apparatus comprises a character key button, a hiragana/katakana conversion key button, a menu key button and the third key button. 10 rows of hiragana characters among a plurality of number keys are assigned to the character key button. The character key button is set up the first key button function and the second key button function. A user inputs the Japanese language consisting of hiragana/katakana/Chinese characters by manipulating the key buttons.
