<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate superior in moistening-proofness by using various dichroism pigments. <P>SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing the polarizing plate forms a layer of the dichroism pigment by applying solution of the dichroism pigment on a polymer surface to be dried after rubbing the polymer surface. Preferably, a polymer forming the polymer surface is a polyimide. Preferably, the dichroism pigment is an azo compound having a benzothiazole group, a thienothiazole group or a stilbene group.
