PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an observation apparatus such as an optical microscope or the like, which enables a user to carry out observation simultaneously with the start of operation of application software. SOLUTION: In the observation system, a switch part 211 is turned OFF by controlling a CPU 201 of the observation apparatus upon completion of the operation of the application software in a PC 119 and power supply 210 for a motor/lamp is not supplied to each motor 110, 107 and a light source 111. Logic power supply 209 is supplied to the CPU 201 and each I/F 204 even in this state. Consequently, the switch part 211 is turned ON by starting the operation of the application software, but processing for initializing each electric part becomes unnecessary.
