<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealed battery capable of getting rid of an unnecessary sticking object stayed in a center pin and surely preventing a destruction accident by properly operating a safety mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: The sealed battery 10 comprises an electrode 14 formed by winding in a shape wherein a positive electrode plate 11 and a negative electrode plate 12 oppositely arranged by sandwiching a separator 13 have a hollow section 14a in the center, the cylindrical center pin 20a inserted into the hollow section 14a, a battery package can 17 for storing the electrode 14, an external terminal 19 serving as a safety valve 18 for discharging a gas when gas pressure in the battery package can 17 exceeds a designated value, and one collector tab 11a wherein one end is connected with one electrode plate 11 located at the most internal peripheral side of the electrode 14 and the other end is connected with the external terminal 19.
