HIGH POWER DOHERTY AMPLIFIER USING MULTI-STAGE MODULES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an amplifier with high gain and high efficiency while the design thereof is simple. SOLUTION: A high power Doherty RF amplifier utilizes multi-stage amplifier modules for both a main amplifier and a peak amplifier. In one embodiment of a two way two stage amplifier, the first stage of each amplifier module includes a signal pre-distortion function whereby distortion in both the first and second stages can be compensated. In one embodiment, a commercially available CREE PFM19030SM power module is used in both the main amplifier and the peak amplifier. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
