PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for performing video recording with an optimal resolution meeting a panel resolution. SOLUTION: The invention relates to a broadcast receiving method in a broadcast receiver capable of performing outputting, with a plurality of resolutions, onto a panel having a display capability of a predetermined resolution. The broadcast receiving method is characterized in that the resolution of the panel is acquired, a resolution of a video-recording target program is determined, and video recording is carried out with an optimal resolution based on a result of the acquisition and a result of the determination. Furthermore, the broadcast receiving method is characterized in that a warning message is presented to prompt video recording with an optimal resolution in response to an instruction, from the outside, for video-recording broadcast of a resolution exceeding the resolution of the panel.
