PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power supply controlling apparatus, a recording apparatus, and an electric power supply controlling method, detecting short-circuiting (failure) of a loading at a high speed and controlling electric power supply to the load. SOLUTION: The electric power supply controlling apparatus is equipped with: a capacitor connected in parallel to the load supplying the electric power through an electric power supply wiring; and a detecting circuit connected in parallel with the load to detect an electric voltage to the load and to output it. The apparatus is equipped with a switching element connected to the electric power supply wiring, and performing on/off according to an inputted control signal. Then, by using such an apparatus as this, the electric voltage outputted from the detecting circuit is compared with the electric voltage of the threshold value, and according to the result of the comparison, an on/off control of the switching element is performed from the control signal to control electric power supply to the load.
