A camera for tracing and photographing a subject and a control method thereof are provided to analyze the shape of a subject and automatically trace the position of the subject by comprising a photographing unit which is rotatably installed at an upper part of a tripod. A camera for tracing and photographing a subject comprises a camera rotation unit(40), a tracking signal processing block and a tracking motor driving module. The camera rotation unit makes a photographing unit rotated in horizontal/vertical directions. The tracking signal processing block processes a tracking operation signal which is transmitted from a main controller. The tracking motor driving module receives the tracking operation signal from the tracking signal processing block and operates a tracking operation motor.
