PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recognizing abnormal current, which can rapidly determine the presence or absence of overcurrent and the presence or absence of an abnormality of a current sensor, and to provide a method for controlling the operation of a power system for a vehicle using the same. SOLUTION: Overcurrent decision time TH_Toc [second] (the time required to decide the occurrence of an overcurrent in a line 92 of the power system 20 for a vehicle) is set to be longer than a sensor abnormality deciding time TH_Tsab [second] (the time required to decide the occurrence of disconnection or short circuit of a power source line 76 for supplying power to a current sensor 62 or a ground line 78).
