PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotor of an AC generator for a vehicle, which is enhanced in centrifugal-force resistant performance by suppressing the mass of a claw magnetic pole constituting the rotor. SOLUTION: The AC generator for the vehicle includes a Lundell type iron core comprising claw-shaped magnetic poles 6, 7 wound with a cylindrical magnetic field winding in the center part, and a rotor having a permanent magnet 9 arranged between the claw-shaped magnetic poles 6, 7, wherein a collar-shaped protrusion 24 for holding the permanent magnet 9 at a predetermined position is formed on the peripheral edge parts on the side surfaces of the claw-shaped magnetic poles 6, 7. The collar-shaped protrusion 24 in the radial thickness is formed thicker around the claw root as compared with the claw tip end. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
