PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound collecting apparatus equally collecting sounds even at any position of a rectangular conference desk where a user takes a seat. SOLUTION: A voice conference apparatus 1 includes a laterally long and approximately parallelepiped casing 2. Microphone arrays are installed on the front and the back of the casing 2. The voice conference apparatus 1 controls sound collection directivity, for voice signals collected by the microphone arrays, on the basis of a sound collection mode input by a user and generates a plurality of sound collection beam signals. The voice conference apparatus 1 performs delay processing based on arrangement intervals of microphones forming the microphone arrays to generate sound collection beam signals with a length direction of the casing 2 as a sound collection direction. Furthermore, the voice conference apparatus 1 generates sound collection beam signals with a width direction of the casing 2 as a sound collection direction (sound collection beam signals with a sound collection area provided in front of the microphone arrays as a sound collection direction, sound collection beam signals with a plurality of spots provided in the sound collection area as a sound collection direction).
