摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescence detecting method for more accurately calculating a fluorescence relaxing time constant than before when the fluorescence, which is emitted from a measuring target by irradiating the measuring target with a laser beam, is detected, and a fluorescence detector. SOLUTION: When the measuring target passes the irradiating position of the laser beam of which the luminous intensity is modulated by a modulation signal of predetermined frequency, the first fluorescence signal of the fluorescence received by a light receiving means is collected. Further, in a state that there is no measuring target at the irradiation position with the laser beam after the measuring target passes the irradiation position with the laser beam, a second fluorescence signal of the fluorescence received by the light receiving means is collected. By using the collected first and second fluorescence signals, the phase difference data of the fluorescent signal of the fluorescence emitted from the measuring target to the modulation signal of the laser beam is calculated and the fluorescence relaxing time constant of the fluorescence emitted from the measuring target is calculated from the calculated phase difference data of the fluorescence signal of the fluorescence emitted from the measuring target.
