<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a verifying device capable of determining easily and reliably the genuineness of an area to be verified having a microfine period, using simple and inexpensive device constitution, and an aricle verified using the device. <P>SOLUTION: The verifying device is a verifying device for verifying the area to be verified including microfine periodic structure of which the period is a wavelength or less of visible ray in at least one part, and includes a light irradiation means for irradiating the area to be verified with an illumination light, and an observation means for observing a diffraction light obtained from the area to be verified. A face including a periodic direction of the microfine periodic structure and orthogonal to the area to be verified is arranged to cross the light irradiation means and the observation means, and the light irradiation means and the observation means are arranged in a position with ≥45° with respect to a normal of the area to be verified in a carefully watching point of the center of the area to be verified. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
