PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable-speed drive device that absorbs disturbance of a distribution network with no damage.

SOLUTION: The variable-speed drive device includes a rectification module 12 that generates direct current voltage from alternate current voltage gained by a distribution network A using a power buses 10 and 11, a bus capacitor Cb connected between the plus line and the minus line of the power buses, an inverter module 13 that is controlled to supply electric power from the power buses and supply the alternate current voltage to an electric load 2, and a protection device 14 that protects the variable-speed drive device from an overload current caused by the voltage fluctuation in the distribution network A.
