PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure and a method for mounting an opening and closing device, which dispense with the working of a window frame, and which facilitate mounting operations. SOLUTION: The structure for mounting the opening and closing device has a mounting substrate frame 3 like a four-side frame, which comprises a head 30 and a sill 31, capable of being expanded and contracted in a length direction, and right and left jambs 32B and 32A for connecting the head and the sill together; the head 30 and the sill 31 are equipped with groove portions G1 and G2 which receive upper and lower fins 100 and 110 formed in the window frame 1, respectively; the right and left jambs 32B and 32A are equipped with abutting portions (groove portions) G3 which abut on right and left fins 130 and 120 formed in the window frame 1, respectively; the abutting portions of the right and left jambs 32B and 32A abut on the right and left fins 130 and 120 in the state of expanding the head 30 and the sill 31, respectively; and an upper case 4 for the opening and closing device, and a bottom frame (draining board) 5 are provided between the right and left jambs 32B and 32A of the substrate frame 3 so as to regulate the contraction of the head 30 and 31.
