PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting failure of a DC/DC converter accurately which can perform continuous monitoring and can also cope with gain variation failure or offset variation failure. SOLUTION: Failure of a current sensor 62, 64 is determined using the difference Dw between an input power Win to a DC/DC converter 36 and the sum of an output power Wout from the DC/DC converter 36 and an estimated loss Lcon generated in the DC/DC converter 36. Ideally, the difference Dw always becomes zero because the input power Win becomes equal to the sum of the output power Wout and the estimated loss Lcon. Consequently, abnormalities in the output from the current sensor 62, 64 can be determined with high precision based on deviation of the difference Dw from a threshold THw for determining failure of a current sensor.
