PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine capable of improving filling efficiency of intake air more than conventional efficiency. SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine 1A has a cylinder head 4 having a plurality of intake ports 6 and an intake manifold 8 for distributing the intake air to the respective intake ports 6. The cylinder head 4 is provided with a cooling water passage 13 having an intake side gathering part 14a arranged adjacent to the intake manifold 8, for gathering cooling water flowed in the cylinder head 4.
