PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a working method on a roof surface, which is suitable for work on the roof surface, including coating and scraping of a corrugated slate roof etc. having linear corrugations along the roof surface, and to provide a working robot. SOLUTION: The working method is provided for carrying out work on a roof 2 having the linear corrugations formed thereon. According to the method, a traveling machine 4 consisting of a working section 6 for carrying out work for the roof surface, and a traveling section 5 for traveling on the roof surface, is mounted on the roof surface, and the work for the roof surface is carried out by the working section 6 during traveling of the traveling machine 4. By fitting or engaging a peripheral surface of the traveling section 5 to or with the corrugations on the roof surface, the traveling machine 4 travels along the corrugations, and carries out the work.
