PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiographic imaging apparatus and method which are capable of finding an appropriate waiting time necessary till the start of photography, and capable of acquiring excellent radiation image information without the influence of the afterimage of the previous photography. SOLUTION: A waiting time computing part 82 computes the quantity of the afterimage left in a radiation conversion panel 30 by using a condition for the previous photography and a condition for the current photography set by a photography condition setting part 76 and the time clocked by a clocking part 84, elapsed from the start of reading the radiation image information from the radiation conversion panel 30, and computes the waiting time till the photography is possible by using the computed quantity of the afterimage and the upper limit allowable value of the afterimage read from an afterimage allowable quantity storage part 80. The computed waiting time is displayed in a display part 90, and a photography permission signal is transmitted to a radiation source control part 64 after the elapse of the waiting time.
