PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet stack cutter capable of inexpensively compactly constituting a press mechanism for pressingly retaining a sheet stack and a cutter mechanism for cutting the sheet stack. SOLUTION: A press member and a movable cutting edge vertically movably supported to an apparatus frame with respect to the sheet stack on a sheet loading table are constituted to vertically move between a top dead center and a bottom dead center by the rotation of a drive rotation member. The press member has a press spring which constantly energizes the sheets in the pressing direction, and the drive motor is stopped so that the press member waits at a waiting position upward separated from the sheets while withstanding the press spring. A movement regulation means which prevents the press member at the waiting position from downward being descended by the operation of the press spring is disposed between the drive motor and the press member.
