<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor element excellent in the bonding reliability of lead parts on the side of a gas to be measured to a substrate. <P>SOLUTION: The gas sensor element 1 includes: a solid electrolyte 2; an electrode 31 on the side of the gas to be measured; and an electrode 32 on the side of a reference gas which are formed on one surface and the other surface of the solid electrolyte 2. The lead parts 33 on the side of the gas to be measured electrically connected to the electrode 31 on the side of the gas to be measured are formed on the one surface of the solid electrolyte 2 via an insulating layer 4. The electrode 31 on the side of the gas to be measured and the solid electrolyte 2 contain the same ceramic material.
