PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a disk controller capable of reducing power consumption; a method of controlling the disk controller; and a program thereof. SOLUTION: A disk controller 2 is connected between a host 1 and a HDD array 3 composed of a plurality of HDDs and controls transmission and reception of data between the host 1 and the HDD array 3. The disk controller 2 has: a cache memory 23 which caches writing data from the host 1 and read data from the HDD array 3; and a RAID controller 22 which monitors input/output data from the host 1 and transmission and reception of data between the cache memory 23 and the HDD array 3, and controls an electric power state of the cache memory 23 on the basis of the monitoring results.
