PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tension adjusting device that adjusts the tension of a band-like packaging cord when the packaging cord is wound around a box-like package by the use of a binding device, and smoothly supplies the packaging cord while preventing a foreign matter from sticking to the cord and preventing the cord from being cracked. SOLUTION: The tension adjusting device is disposed in the binding device used for winding the band-like packaging cord 1 around a package and forming a knot, and adjusts the tension of the packaging cord 1. An undriven upper tension adjusting roll 3 and a lower tension adjusting roll 4 which pinch the packaging cord 1 and supply it to the binding device are disposed above and below the packaging cord 1. The upper tension adjusting roll 3 is vertically movable by an air cylinder. A torque adjusting device is attached to the rotating shaft of the lower tension adjusting roll 4 via a speed reduction device. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
