An apparatus for transforming a local portion by using the sweep and a method thereof are provided to remove the restriction on the calculation amount even in digital contents such as a high definition 3D game having high-capacity mesh data. An apparatus for transforming a local portion by using the sweep comprises an input unit(100), a sweep shape transforming unit(122) and a mesh shape transforming unit(124). The input unit receives mesh and sweep data and an external force. The sweep shape transforming unit transforms the shape of sweep data corresponding to the location to which the external force is applied. The mesh shape transforming unit binds the transformed sweep data with mesh data of corresponding location.
