The electromechanical steering gear (1) has a gear rack (3), an electric motor (4), and a gearbox. The gearbox has a belt drive with two belt pulleys (7,8) and a belt (10) for coupling the belt pulleys. One of the belt pulleys has an outer ring (20) and an inner ring (21). A damping medium (22) is arranged in a space formed between the outer ring and the inner ring, which couples the external ring with the inner ring in torsionally flexible manner. An independent claim is included for a method for manufacturing a belt pulley for a vehicle steering gear.
