ARTIFICIAL LEATHER EXCELLENT IN EXPANDABILITY AND METHOD FOR PRODUCTION THEREOF

An artificial leather comprises a fiber tangled component containing an ultrafine fiber and a polymeric elastic material. The ultrafine fiber has a single fiber size of 0.9 or less dtex. The artificial leather has elongation ratio of 15% or more and expansion recovery factor of 80% or more, along longitudinal direction. A polymeric layer is formed on at least one surface of the fiber tangled component. An independent claim is also included for manufacture of artificial leather, which involves shrinking a contractible sheet contracted to 10% or more in the length direction, adhering to at least one side of artificial leather and subsequently removing contractible sheet.
