A locking apparatus of a steering column is provided to smoothly release a locking bar which is inserted in a locking ring. A locking apparatus of a steering column is composed of a locking bar(210), and a locking ring(220). The locking bar protrudes toward a lower steering shaft(106) within the steering column. A cam rotates along the operation of a starting key to control the movement of the locking bar. The locking ring is installed to surround the outer circumference of the lower steering shaft. A groove(222) in which the locking bar is inserted is formed in the locking ring. A friction reduction member(302) is formed on the contact surface of the locking bar, and smoothly releases the locking bar from the groove.
