摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical demultiplexer that is compact and excellent in wavelength separation characteristics even when an optical fiber with a large numerical aperture is used. <P>SOLUTION: A wavelength multiplexing light beam made incident from an optical fiber 10 reflects on a prism 16a, changes an optical path and is made incident on a concave mirror 14 of a cylindrical shape. A light beam 42 reflected by the concave mirror 14 is propagated through an optical block 18, made incident on a chirped diffraction grating 12, diffracted to a different angle by the wavelength, and converged. A light beam 43 reflected by the chirped diffraction grating 12 is reflected by a prism 16b and then optically coupled with the incident end 44 of a light receiving optical waveguide 28. A light incident part and a light exiting part are separated by providing a prism 16 and made to be positioned facing each other across the prism 16. The propagation through the optical block 18 enables the optical demultiplexer to be compact, and an aberration produced in the chirped diffraction grating can be reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p>
