METASERVER AND FILE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

A metaserver manages mapping information which manages allocation of data constituting a file to a storage device. A metaserver comprises a unit of acquiring a file open request, a unit of acquiring mapping information, and a unit of transmitting mapping information. When receiving a file open request from a host, the unit of acquiring mapping information acquires the mapping information relating to a file to open from a unit of storing mapping information. The unit of transmitting mapping information returns the mapping information acquired by the unit of acquiring mapping information to the host which transmitted the file open request.
