Disclosed is a data transfer apparatus and method that enables fast data transfer, has a simple circuit configuration and a small area; and a semiconductor circuit. The data transfer apparatus comprises: a data pair generation circuit (301) that transfers the generated data pairs during one cycle of a handshake signal transmission; a multiplexer (302) that outputs data from one side of the data pairs in accordance with the handshake signal; a memory (305) that records the data that arises from the bi-directional transition of a memory control input signal and is outputted from the multiplexer (302); a memory control circuit (303) that transmits the handshake signal and outputs the memory control signal; a request signal wait circuit (306) that waits for the data from one side of the data pairs to be recorded by memory (305) and for the data from the other side to be outputted from the multiplexer (302); and a data pair receiving circuit (307) that receives the data pairs in response to a signal from the request signal wait circuit (306) and outputs the data pairs to the transfer destination.
