PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode active material capable of forming a lithium-ion secondary battery which reduces irreversible capacity at the first time and is excellent on high-rate discharge characteristics. SOLUTION: In a Raman scattering spectrum measured by Raman spectroscopy regarding the negative electrode active material used for a negative electrode of a lithium-ion secondary battery, a straight line passing through a point where Raman scattering intensity is minimized in a range of wavenumbers of 1,930-1,970 cm<SP>-1</SP>and a point where Raman scattering intensity is minimized in a range of wavenumbers of 930-970 cm<SP>-1</SP>is set up to be a background, and when Raman scattering intensity from the background at a peak wavenumber in a range of wavenumbers of 1,530-1,600 cm<SP>-1</SP>denotes A and Raman scattering intensity from a base line denotes B, the relationship of (B/A)≤1.5 is satisfied.
