<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process control apparatus which can easily change its process control functions. <P>SOLUTION: The process control apparatus is equipped with an automatic selection means 20 which determines dynamic characteristics of process in response to a command signal from an automatic selection instruction means 2a of a monitoring unit 2, selects a predefined control command among a set of control commands stored in control command set memory 12 based on the determined results, and stores the selected command as a code in the FUNC code memory area 15a of loop tag table memory 15, and a CPU 16 which controls a process of plant by executing a given program referring to a control command stored in the FUNC code memory area 15a.
