<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer sheet which prevents defective printing caused by the fusion or adhesion between the thermal transfer sheet and a thermal transfer image receiving sheet without inducing wrinkle occurrence and dye bleeding and an image forming method. <P>SOLUTION: The thermal transfer sheet has a dye layer in which a heat transferable dye is contained in a binder resin on a support. The dye layer contains at least one kind of polymer containing a repeating unit derived from a monomer (a) expressed by formula (1) and a monomer (b) having a ≥7C aliphatic group having a bridge bond.
