PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an armature core unit and the like that can singularly cope with various types of linear motors. SOLUTION: The armature core unit 1 is so constructed that first and second armature core blocks 2 and 5 are rotatably coupled with each other at a hinge portion 1a. When the armature core unit is in the state illustrated in Fig.1(a), driving coils 61, 62 are continuously wound on its tooth portions 2a, 5a and thus an armature unit 100 is manufactured. Thereafter, it is deformed into the U-shaped state illustrated in Fig.1(c). Three armature units 100 in the state illustrated in Fig.1(c) are fixed on a supporting member 222 as illustrated in Fig.1(e) to construct an armature 220 for unilateral linear motors. An armature 420 for bilateral linear motors 400 is formed by fixing three assemblies obtained by combining two armature units 100 in Fig.1(c) back to back on a supporting member 422 as illustrated in Figs.1(g) and 1(h). Thus the armaturs of unilateral and bilateral linear motors can be constructed by one type of an armature core unit 1 and this makes it possible to reduced the number of types of armature core units.
