PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double pipe heat exchanger having superior heat exchanging performance. SOLUTION: This double pipe heat exchanger comprises an outer pipe 2, and an inner pipe 3 disposed in the outer pipe 2 with a clearance. The clearance between the outer pipe 2 and the inner pipe 3, and the inside of the inner pipe 3 are applied as refrigerant flow channels 4, 5. A plurality of inner fins 12 projecting inward in the radial direction and extended in the longitudinal direction are disposed on an inner peripheral face of the inner pipe 3 with clearances in the circumferential direction. At least one portion of the inner pipe 3 is projected to an outer side with respect to an end portion of the outer pipe 2. An expanded portion 15a of a pipe 15 is fitted to a part projecting to the outer side with respect to the outer pipe 2, of at least one end portion of the inner pipe 3 with a clearance to the outer pipe 2 to cover it. An inner peripheral face of an end portion of the outer pipe 2, an inner peripheral face of the expanded portion 15a, and an outer peripheral face of the inner pipe 3 are brazed.
