<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform monitoring, in a rate monitoring system for a packet transfer apparatus, through packet-by-packet processing on packets of high-speed and large capacity for a number of users by providing an external memory. <P>SOLUTION: A token counter is provided in an external RAM for holding a token value to which a token value of each meter ID is added; a meter ID and length information of each packet data item are extracted; first and second information caches are provided for storing packet information constituted of meter IDs and lengths of a predetermined number of packets and a matching flag indicating mutual identity of the predetermined number of meter IDs; a timing generating section performs switching for driving one of the first and second information caches so as to perform input operation of the packet information, and the other information cache so as to perform token operation using a token operation section for each meter ID; and first and second information buffers are provided to which a flag representing whether packet data are to be passed or discarded is set as an arithmetic result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
