Disclosed is a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which employs a mixed positive electrode active material produced by mixing a layered oxide that shows an initial charge-discharge efficiency of less than 100% (hereinafter, referred to as a first layered oxide) with a layered oxide that shows an initial charge/discharge efficiency of 100% or higher (hereinafter, referred to as a second layered oxide), wherein the initial charge/discharge efficiencies are measured by using metal lithium as a counter electrode. The first layered oxide may be Li1+aMnxCoyNizO2. The second layered oxide showing an initial charge-discharge efficiency of 100% or higher may be a layered compound which is previously delithiated by the treatment with an acid or the like, and a sodium oxide such as LiANaBMnXCoYNiZO 2. A layered oxide produced by substituting (ion-exchanging) sodium in LiANaBMnXCoYNiZO 2 by lithium may also be used as the second layered oxide. |
