<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trickle type developing device using two-component developer capable of excellently forming an image over a long term by making fluctuation of toner density and bulk level of developer in the developing device as little as possible, and to provide an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The developing device includes stirring members 72 and 74 for stirring and conveying the developer in a developing tank, and a developer carrier 48 as shown in figure 1. The developing device also includes a developer supply tank, a toner density detection sensor, a trickle type discharge mechanism, a developer amount detection means, and a control means that controls operation for supplying the toner and carrier to be supplied when detecting that the toner density is lower than a predetermined reference toner density. The control means performs operation for forcibly consuming the toner in the developing tank and also the operation for supplying the toner and carrier to be supplied when the developer amount detection means judges that the amount of the developer in the developing tank is small. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
